Skopje is among the strangest looking capital cities I've been to. It is an eclectic mish-mash of huge monumental sculptures, imposing building facades, winding cobbled streets as well as cheesy fake pirate ships. There's the latest design around each and every nook, out of baroque to neoclassical to Las-Vegas-style kitsch.
